A large majority of us will stick to a neutral colour palette which is perfectly fine but as many of us tend to have a favourite colour, outside of the neutral tones of beige, it is always nice to be able to put your own stamp in your home. This can not only enhance your mood, it can change the amount of time you spend in your home.

We are firm believers that you should set your own trend so that your home will reflect your personality.

It is fairly easy to add colour to your home by following a few of our tips below:

1. If you like a lot of colour, in fact all the colours of the rainbow and more, and have items of furniture and accessories in different colours, then we recommend that the ceilings are white, the walls are kept in one neutral colour, e.g. beige or off-white and the floors have neutral tones, e.g. brown solid wood flooring, beige carpets etc. If you choose to have an accent wall with colour, then we recommend that the wallpaper matches one or more of the items that will be kept in that room.

2. Try and stick to the same theme throughout your home, from room to room, so that there is a good flow.

3. If you currently have a neutral palette and would like to add some subtle tones of colours, then we recommend that you introduce colour through accessories only as opposed to furniture as accessories can be far more easier and less expensive to replace than furniture.

- Stick to a maximum of four colours, unless you are using the scheme in tip 1.

- If you are introducing colour to your walls or an accent wall, then add a few accessories, e.g. cushions, candles, vases around the room in the same colour to bring the room together.

There are a lot of you that may be thinking that it would be easier to buy the items ready made from the shop. However, you may still be required to undertake some assembly of the product and even then the dimensions and finish might not be how you want them.
